Apps, Services and Rich Content Migrate to the Mobile Browser

Over the past several years we have seen accelerating growth in use of the mobile web, though primarily for static content. However, with standards coalescing and browser capabilities increasing, content and services delivered in the mobile browser will become increasingly robust. Developers are leveraging growing smartphone adoption, improved mobile browser capabilities, and high-quality networks to deliver mobile applications within the browser rather than on-deck.
 
On-deck applications have been central to the mobile experience since the introduction of the Apple App Store in 2008. Apple, the leading app distributor with over 400,000 apps today, reinforces the traditional method of application delivery and use: on-deck. However, applications are increasingly being delivered via the mobile web browser.
