TMNG Global (News - Alert), a provider of management consulting and software solutions to the global communications, media and entertainment industries, revealed that Sprint Nextel has implemented TMNG's SmartXchange solution, a groundbreaking, proactive mobile device recapture service for the communications industry.

The SmartXchange is a patent- pending service that gives wireless providers the option to proactively target specific devices and customers in order to drive maximum benefits from the collection and reuse of handsets and other electronic devices.

In a press release, Fared Adib, vice president of product development for Sprint (News - Alert) Nextel, said, "Sprint is a pioneer in wireless re-use and recycling. We were the first U.S. Carrier to commit ourselves to achieving an aggressive 2017 goal to collect nine devices out of every 10 sold, or 90 percent, for reuse and recycling. At the end of 2009, Sprint achieved a wireless recycling and reuse rate of more than 41 percent, well ahead of the industry average. Sprint's leadership in corporate responsibility and environmental sustainability continues to receive recognition. For the second year in a row, Sprint ranked highest among all U.S. telecom companies on Newsweek's Green Rankings at No. 6 out of 500 companies, up from No. 15 in 2009. This new partnership with TMNG is another step forward that will help us achieve our goals."
