Challenge
Three companies had merged to create one large Service Bureau. Each company had a different billing platform, and each believed that its platform was superior to the other two. A decision had to be made about which of the three would be the system chosen for the future. The President of the company wanted an unbiased third party to resolve the conflict and requested the help of TMNG Global. TMNG was asked to conduct an Internal Product Assessment Project. The task consisted of an assessment of the business, an assessment of the technical and functional capabilities of each of the three systems, and a competitive vendor analysis comparing the combined capabilities of the three systems with two other premier players in the market.
TMNG Global Solution
Given TMNG’s experience conducting product assessment reviews for large telecom companies and vendors, TMNG was ideally suited to assist this client. We used our proprietary TMNG Lexicon™ methodology and associated Evaluation Matrices to assess this company’s software products from business, technical, and functional perspectives.
TMNG completed this review using Lexicon in four phases in four weeks. The phases of implementation included the following:
Phase 1 – Assessment
Conducted comprehensive interviews for five days with appointed company subject matter experts for all three systems in two different states.
Phase 2 – Project Evaluation
Applied the information gathered to the TMNG Lexicon™ evaluation tool, where it was quantified and analyzed.
Phase 3 –Competitive Vendor Analysis
A competitive vendor analysis chart was prepared to provide a comparison of the company’s functionality versus two other comparable vendors in the market. TMNG also gathered relevant information from its own databases for vendor information and also tapped expertise from its own consultants to provide the company with timely data.
Phase 4 – Presentation of Results
Presented the company senior management and appropriate personnel with the assessment package that included objective evaluations of the company’s products from business, technical, and functional perspectives; two competitor vendor profiles, including a company profile, background, revenues, technology, typical implementation timeframes and strengths and weaknesses; a competitive Vendor Analysis Chart; and conclusions and recommendations.
Benefits to the Client
The conclusions and recommendations made by TMNG Global provided the company management with documented strengths and weakness of all three systems, giving them the necessary data to select the appropriate system for their company.
