TMNG Global Manages Systems RFP Process for Wholesale VoIP Carrier

Challenge

With over 800 mini-PoPs throughout the world with numerous network assets at each of these sites as well as three Super PoPs, our client, a wholesale VoIP carrier, had approximately 75,000 assets to manage and track.  They recognized the need to purchase a new, comprehensive inventory management system.

Having worked previously with TMNG Global on a complex billing system implementation, the client trusted us with the coordination of the requirements assessment and RFP process for this new system.

TMNG Global Solution

After initial requirements gathering with the client’s technical specialists, the TMNG Global team also identified the need for new asset management and purchasing systems as well. Given the need for these systems to interface with the inventory management system, TMNG Global needed to identify vendors that could deliver solutions for all three sets of requirements. We assumed responsibility for the coordination of the entire RFP process and gathered the client’s detailed requirements.

Using our proprietary TMNG Lexicon™ process, we prepared the RFP and  identified the eligible vendors. After the RFP had been distributed and responses had been received, we scored the responses according to Lexicon's  measurement criteria and ranked the vendors accordingly. We then arranged for the top vendors to demonstrate their solutions for the client.   In order to facilitate the client’s ability to score the vendor demonstrations, we also created a customized demonstration scoresheet.

Throughout the process, TMNG Global served as the single point of contact for all vendor interaction with the client. Once the short list of final vendors had been selected, we negotiated initial pricing and terms.   Following the selection of a vendor, TMNG Global performed overall project management, as well as selected system integration and QA activities for the Phase I delivery of the ultimate systems solution.

Benefits to the Client

The client’s goal was to have Phase 1 of the inventory, asset management and purchasing system implemented by the end of the calendar year and, with TMNG Global’s help, they were able to meet this goal.   With the comprehensive solution, the client will now be able to track the entire life cycle of an asset, from purchasing through retirement.
